Used Crown Victoria For Sale

The name Crown Victoria refers to several Ford models. 1992 toyota camry radiator tank repair. The first Crown Victoria for sale by Ford was available in 1955 and then again in 1956. This car was a 2-door 6-seater coupe, and part of the larger Ford Fairlane lineup, which was very popular at that time. There was also a Victoria model that was part of the Fairlane lineup, and named after a type of carriage. The Crown Victoria differentiated itself from the Victoria with a "crowned" roofline, a stainless steel band that lined the roof as an extension of the pillar post trim.

After 1956, in an effort to streamline the Fairlane lineup, Ford ceased production of the short-lived Crown Victoria. The nameplate would go unused by Ford for more than two decades when in 1979 Ford chose it as the name for the deluxe version of the LTD, which Ford had formerly called the LTD Landau. The full name of this new vehicle was the Ford LTD Crown Victoria, but it would only last for two years, 1979 and 1980, before being gone again.

However, this hiatus was short-lived, and the Crown Victoria name would return in 1983 as part of a complete shakeup of the LTD lineup by Ford. The mid-size LTD became the Ford Granada, and Ford renamed the full-size LTD the LTD Crown Victoria. This is when Ford began selling these cars for use as police vehicles, and there seems to be a correlation between this decision and the popularity of the car with the public. Ford gave the civilian LTD Crown Victoria a 302 cubic-inch V8 while the police edition got the 351 cubic-inch (5.8 L) V8 with the VV (Variable Venturi) carburetor.

The "Crown Vic" remained essentially unchanged for the next 9 years until the Crown Victoria for sale in 1992. This 1992 Crown Victoria is technically the first model year of the first generation of the modern Crown Victoria. It is at this point that Ford drops the LTD designation all together, and it is also the first year of the rounder, eight-window shape that provides the look that becomes synonymous with Crown Victorias. Ford redesigned the Taurus that year as well, and they used that new Taurus look as a heavy influence for the new Crown Vic's style.

The Crown Victoria for sale in 1998 marked the beginning of the second and current vehicle generation. Ford managed to modernize the vehicle aesthetically while still making it instantly recognizable as a Crown Victoria. In addition to exterior styling changes, Ford completely reworked the rear suspension and the ignition system. The interior of the car remained essentially the same, although Ford had given the car interior tweaks each year between 1992 and 1997.

Throughout the 1990s, the Crown Victoria served as Ford's flagship sedan, but after the turn of the century, popularity began to dwindle with the non-commercial consumer. Is car dent removal a constant worry? . In 2005, Ford introduced the Ford Five-Hundred as their new flagship sedan, and sales of the Crown Victoria were at around 5,000 units by this point. By 2006, sales had dwindled to just 3,000 units, which led Ford to pull the Crown Victoria from Canada dealerships completely. Then in 2008, the Crown Victoria became a Fleet series vehicle only, and was no longer available to the public. It has continued to remain popular with Fleet customers such as Taxi companies.
